NXT Reportedly Set For Major WrestleMania Role

WrestleMania 36 as Charlotte Flair raises the NXT Women's Championship after winning it for a second time

NXT could be set to play a major part in WrestleMania, according to a report from reliable Twitter account, WrestleVotes.

The mystery Twitter user (who generally has a great track record when it comes to backstage news), has revealed that strong consideration has been given to reigning NXT Champion Finn Balor defending his title at WrestleMania 37.

WrestleVotes stated:

“Full disclosure, I don’t know where discussions stand at this point… However, I do know that several people, including some higher up personnel, have talked about having Finn Balor & the NXT Championship on the WrestleMania card this year. Especially considering it’s 2 nights.”

If the NXT Championship is defended at WrestleMania 37, it would mark the first time the title has been featured at the ‘Showcase of the Immortals’. The NXT brand is no stranger to WrestleMania, with Charlotte Flair defeating Rhea Ripley to win the NXT Women’s Championship at last year’s event in the empty WWE Performance Center. That match-up was one of the event’s highlights.

It is not yet known who would compete for the NXT Championship at WrestleMania. Reigning champion Balor is set to defend his title against Pete Dunne at NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day on February 14. Royal Rumble winner Edge also hinted on the February 3 edition of NXT that he might choose to challenge for the title at WrestleMania 37 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.

It remains to be seen whether further NXT stars or titles will feature at WrestleMania. As the show will take place over two nights, however, the expectation of the black and gold brand being represented on the ‘Show of Shows’ is high.

WrestleMania 37 will emanate from Raymond James Stadium, in Tampa, Florida on April 10 and 11 and will be live on the WWE Network. Stay tuned to Inside The Ropes for more news and updates as we get them.
