NXT on USA will kick off in style this week after the opening segment of the black and gold brands show on the 1st of June was confirmed during Raw.
The show will kick off with Johnny Gargano, Pete Dunne, and Kyle O’Reilly squaring off in a triple threat match. The match will determine the number one contender for Karrion Kross’ NXT Championship and the winner will face the champion at NXT TakeOver: In Your House.
Gargano is the only one of the three challengers to have held the NXT Championship although Dunne held the NXT UK Championship for what was then a record-setting 685 days. That record has since been surpassed and then some by current champion WALTER. Pete Dunne has been on an impressive run in NXT since losing an NXT Championship match against Finn Balor back in February.
Kyle O’Reilly has also been on an impressive run sparked by his defeat of former Undisputed Era teammate Adam Cole at NXT TakeOver: Stand And Deliver Night Two. Cole shocked the system in his own way when he turned his back on O’Reilly by super kicking him at NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day.
The title match at In Your House will be the second of Kross’ second reign as champion. He previously defeated Finn Balor on NXT on USA after beating the Irishman for the title at NXT TakeOver: Stand And Deliver. Kross’ first reign as champion came in August 2020 when he defeated Keith Lee for the gold. That reign was cruelly cut short as Kross suffered an injury during his title win.
The second edition of NXT TakeOver: In Your House is set to take place on Sunday, June 13th. It will be the second edition of the rebooted In Your House show with 2020’s edition headlined by Io Shirai defeating Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley to reclaim the NXT Women’s Championship.
Also scheduled for the June 1st edition of NXT is MSK defending their NXT Tag Team Championship against Raul Mendoza and Joaquin Wilde of Legado Del Fantasma.
