NXT Injury Reports Dismissed As Storyline

A new report has played down suggestions that a top NXT 2.0 star recently suffered an injury at a live event.

At the NXT 2.0 live event in Largo, Florida on June 11th, Tony D’Angelo was scheduled to take on Cameron Grimes. However, the match was quickly brought to a close as it appeared that D’Angelo had suffered a shoulder injury.

In a new update on Figure Four Online, it has been suggested that the injury is not as severe as first thought, or is in fact part of a storyline.

“It appears the Tony D’Angelo injury at the NXT house show last night was either storyline or not serious. There are people with the company saying storyline and others were just downplaying it.”

The news comes after fellow NXT star Gigi Dolin suffered her own injury scare just days earlier. At a TV taping for an upcoming episode of NXT 2.0, Toxic Attraction took on Indi Hartwell, Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez.

During the match, Cora Jade hit a cannonball senton on Gigi Dolin before attempting to pick her up. However, Dolin didn’t get up as expected, so Jade quickly pinned her to pick up the win and end the match.

After the bell, Dolin was helped backstage, receiving a standing ovation as she went. Thankfully, any injury appeared not to too serious as Dolin returned to the ring later in the show for a promo segment alongside the rest of Toxic Attraction.

According to PWInsider, the star appeared to be okay, and may have just had the wind knocked out of her.

Meanwhile, Tony D’Angelo’s stablemate Troy ‘Two Dimes’ Donovan became the latest star to depart from WWE after news broke of his release from the company on June 11th.
