NXT House Shows Return After Two Years

NXT 2.0

NXT 2.0 has returned to the road for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic took hold in early 2020.

During NXT’s boom period as the ‘Black and Gold brand’ the show regularly toured the United States as WWE’s third brand. The show even featured in the United Kingdom with numerous runs of live shows and appearances at Download Festival.

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, WWE were running NXT Road Trip tours around the US, and then a Florida loop at smaller venues around the state. However, this came to an end in March 2020, and up until now the brand was yet to return to the road.

On June 10th NXT held it’s first live event in two years. The show in Tampa, Florida, is being followed by another in Largo, Florida on June 11th. Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that the shows were held in “very small buildings.”

It had already been reported that there will be six further shows in the current run. You can find the list of dates below.

  • Tampa, FL on June 10th
  • Largo, FL on June 11th
  • Jacksonville, FL on June 24th
  • Venice, FL on June 25th
  • Dunnellon, FL on July 8th
  • Orlando, FL on July 9th
  • Melbourne, FL on July 22nd
  • Cocoa Beach, FL on July 23rd

Away from the tour it has been reported that Gigi Dolin suffered an injury scare at a recent taping for the show. During a six-woman tag team match, the Toxic Attraction star was on the receiving end of a cannonball senton from Cora Jade. However, when Jade went to pick up her rival she didn’t get up as expected, so the young star quickly pinned Dolin to end the match.

According to PWInsider, Dolin appeared to be okay, and may have just had the wind knocked out of her. She completed an in-ring promo segment later in the show as planned.
