Karrion Kross will defend his NXT Championship against Johnny Gargano on the July 13th episode of NXT. Not only that, Samoa Joe will be the special guest referee!
At The Great American Bash a frustrated and agitated William Regal invited Karrion Kross and Johnny Garagno to the ring in an effort to put an end to the sniping between the two.
Predictably, Kross and Gargano fired insults at one another with the challenger setting the tone, telling Kross that he sucks. While the champion responded by running down his goals for his time in WWE, which include never losing the NXT Championship.
As the two men bickered, NXT General Manager William Regal, flanked by Samoa Joe, announced that the pair will face off for the championship on the upcoming episode of NXT. With the verbal sparring showing no sign of stopping, Regal announced that Joe would serve as the special guest referee.
Even after the match announcement, Gargano continued taking shots at Kross, telling him that he wasn’t fit to lace his wife’s boots.
The segment closed with Kross threatening to go after his adversary, before Joe got in the champion’s face.

In recent weeks, Kross has been backstage at RAW and SmackDown sparking speculation that he may be about to move up to the main roster. The NXT Champion has also appeared on WWE Main Event.
Meanwhile, Johnny Gargano is a former NXT Champion in his own right. The leader of The Way defeated Adam Cole to claim the vacant title at NXT TakeOver: New York in 2019.
