Mickie James Joins NWA, All-Women’s PPV Announced

NWA has announced an all-women’s pay-per-view for August 28th, with Mickie James being confirmed as Executive Producer for the event.

A monumental announcement came on the NWA POWERRR after When Our Shadows Fall, with Billy Corgan making the announcement as James appeared on NWA as the event was confirmed.

The event – named NWA EMPOWERRR – will take place in St. Louis, Missouri and is one of two PPVs the promotion will host across the weekend with NWA 73, celebrating the anniversary of the historic promotion, will take place at the iconic Chase Ballroom.

Mickie James spoke on NWA POWERRR, and said they have a “real opportunity with real history” after stating she’d been “cut off” when previously attempting similar. James also suggested that there are no limitations in terms of participants at the event, saying she wants the best women in the world, regardless of contractual status.

The NWA Women’s Division received a boost this weekend, as Kylie Rae joined the company – while a new champion was crowned in Kamille who dethroned AEW star Serena Deeb as NWA Women’s Champion.

Mickie James was released by WWE on April 15th, alongside Samoa Joe, Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, Chelsea Green, Tucker, Kalisto, Mojo Rawley, Bo Dallas and Wesley Blake – with further releases last week seeing Braun Strowman, Buddy Murphy, Lana, Ruby Riott and Aleister Black departing the company.

Last year, it had been rumoured that Mickie James had retired last year, which Inside The Ropes rebuffed. However, there is no word as of yet as to whether Mickie James will compete at NWA NWA EMPOWERRR, or work solely as Executive Producer for the event.

Meanwhile following NWA’s move to FITE TV, Inside The Ropes recently learned that the promotion’s subscription rate is “far exceeding” the expectations of the global streaming company – both in terms of subscriptions and revenue. FITE TV will host both NWA EMPOWERRR and NWA 73.
