“They Are Not On Good Terms” – Konnan Confirms Heat Between AEW Tag Team

Konnan

Konnan has appeared to confirm that a high-profile AEW tag team could be splitting up very soon due to real life heat between the two stars.

In recent months it has been suggested that all is not well between Santana and his tag team partner Ortiz.

The two men have been teaming together for more than a decade, first on the independent scene before moves to IMPACT Wrestling and eventually AEW in the summer of 2019.

However in more recent times, Santana has been taking independent bookings on his own without his partner, while the pair haven’t teamed together as just a duo since February. Furthermore, in April Santana tweeted out “126 days” which was taken to mean the number of days left on his AEW deal. He followed this up in late June with a post which simply said “soon.”

Speaking on his Keepin’ It 100 podcast, Konnan, who is close to both men, commented that “They are not on good terms,” effectively confirming the speculation.

Neither Santana or Ortiz have been in action since AEW Dynamite Blood and Guts. In the main event of the show inside the steel structure, the pair teamed with Eddie Kingston, Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta and Claudio Castagnoli to defeat the Jericho Appreciation Society.

During the match, Santana appeared to fall awkwardly injuring his knee. Speaking after the show, AEW President confirmed that the star could be out for a lengthy period.
