Adam Copeland has admitted that his time left in the ring is coming to an end and his current contract will likely be his last.
After first retiring back in 2011, The Rated R Superstar defied the odds 9 years later when he made a surprise appearance in the Royal Rumble match. From there, the former Edge stated that he was back and given a chance to retire on his own terms.
Following a 3 year stint in WWE, Copeland chose not to renew his contract following a match against Sheamus and became All Elite in October of that year. Given his age, previous injuries and wear and tear from decades in the ring, fans are aware that the Hall of Famer’s final match is not too far away.
While appearing on First Up with Korolnek & Colaiacovo, the former TNT Champion stated that although the schedule is much lighter, he will likely hang up the boots when his current contract expires:
“Not much longer. The schedule is far better than what it used to be. If you asked me to try and pull off over 200 days a year that I pulled before, there is absolutely no way because the recovery takes too long now. I’ll have a match and it’ll take me a good week to finally start walking normal.
I’ve realized now, I’m 51 years old, I figure I have until maybe 53, the end of this contract, and then it’s probably time to call it a day and get out while I can still limp away [laughs]. Lick my wounds and do a whole lot of yoga after.”
Copeland will turn 53 in October 2026.
