SummerSlam concluded with Brock Lesnar’s shocking WWE return after 2 years. The Beast Incarnate had a staredown with John Cena, someone he had rivaled in the early 2000s. Lesnar entered the ring and hit Cena with the F5, reigniting their rivalry in 2025.
Not everyone was pleased with Brock Lesnar’s return. He was named in the Janel Grant lawsuit, which led to Vince McMahon stepping down from his position as CEO and Chairperson and distancing himself from the company in 2022. Since then, Lesnar was also removed from any association and mention in WWE.
Some fans embraced his comeback to the company and going up against Cena, given their history. However, a few fans were irate about his association with the lawsuit and expressed their displeasure.

Cody Rhodes Dethroned John Cena At WWE SummerSlam
John Cena brought back his colorful titantron and vibes at The Biggest Party of the Summer. This was noticeably absent when he turned heel and walked out to a black screen featuring his name only.
The Street Fight upheld its reputation with the two megastars using every weapon at their discretion. There was a lot of rumbling about The American Nightmare potentially turning heel in light of his frustration in the match. He dethroned Cena to become a two-time Undisputed WWE Champion. This match officially marked John Cena’s babyface turn, which initially sowed the seeds of doubt during his SmackDown promo.
