Next week’s SmackDown episode will see non-WWE championships being defended.
Next week’s WWE SmackDown will be special, as it will serve as the go-home show for the long-awaited SummerSlam premium live event that weekend. A few matches were already announced for the show at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, among them for the AAA World Tag Team titles.
Los Garza were among the names who ventured into AAA following WWE’s acquisition of the company. During the TripleMania event on June 15, Angel and Berto defeated Generacion Dinamita, Pagano & Psycho Clown, and The Nemeths to become the promotion’s World Tag Team Champions.
After this week’s Friday show, Angel and Berto, along with Santos Escobar, announced they will have an open challenge for the AAA World Tag Team Championships on the August 1 episode of SmackDown. The duo extended the invitation to the groups on RAW, SmackDown, NXT, and Triple A.

This week’s episode ended with Andrade and Rey Fenix winning their match against The Wyatt Sicks’ Dexter Lumis and Joe Gacy via disqualification due to Nikki Cross’ interference, but were unable to become the WWE Tag Team Champions.
Following the match, a brawl ensued with Fraxiom, DIY, Motor City Machine Guns, and the Street Profits joining the action. Nick Aldis later announced that the champions will defend the gold against the five groups in a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match.
