Tony Khan has addressed his status as an onscreen figure.
Despite being the President of AEW, Khan’s appearances during broadcasts are few and far between. Generally appearing to deliver big announcements backstage, any storyline announcements made by Khan are delivered via Tony Schiavone. Not taking part in lengthy promo segments or dominating screentime, Khan is a very different authority figure from what most have seen in the past.
Along with not being the main focal point of the show, Khan has yet to get physical on TV in the 5 years that it has been onscreen. With authority figures taking part in matches in the past and even winning championships, will Khan be making his in-ring debut anytime soon?
Speaking with Levak and Goz, Khan was asked if he ever planned on having a match in the future. Khan responded that it would be highly unlikely and would instead prefer to give the ring time to those who have the skills and experience:
“I don’t think anybody really wants to see that. Not anytime soon. That’s not anything I think we’re going to do. I do think AEW has a great roster, the best wrestlers in the world. I would rather try to put the best matches and we have exciting rivalries building in AEW right now.”
In recent news, Tony Khan has revealed his huge prediction for AEW in 2025.
