There isn’t a hiring freeze in WWE, but there’s no rush within the company to sign new stars.
On July 17th it was reported that Nick Aldis is “done” with IMPACT Wrestling. The star had only returned to the company in April but it seems that bigger things could be on the horizon.
Shortly after confirmation of his IMPACT exit, it was reported that WWE holds an interest in Aldis and he could be heading for a role as a producer. WWE’s interest in Aldis is nothing new with the sports entertainment giant also keeping tabs on the British star before he returned to IMPACT.
While discussing Aldis’ potential next move in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer stated that although WWE isn’t actively hiring many people, there isn’t a hiring freeze in place as has been previously suggested.
“Aldis had been in talks with WWE before coming to Impact. WWE, which while talks about a hiring freeze aren’t true, has not been hiring many new people. We were told if, just as a name, that if Kenny Omega was a free agent and he wanted to come it’s not like he couldn’t or anyone who could come in and the belief was make a difference.”
Brian Pillman Jr. Won’t Be Joining WWE
While Nick Aldis might be heading to WWE, it seems that Brian Pillman Jr. won’t be following him. In the same report, Meltzer stated that a deal for Pillman Jr. appears to be off the table until WWE’s merger with UFC has been fully completed.
Pillman Jr. was recently spotted working out at the Performance Center after his AEW contract expired.
