MJF has seemingly disappeared from the wrestling world after delivering his already infamous pipe bomb on June 1st.
After seemingly weeks of build-up, on the June 1st edition of AEW Dynamite, MJF came to the ring, grabbed a microphone and opened fire on everything in sight.
The star put down fans, co-workers, the company’s ex-WWE Superstars, fellow wrestlers he thought were unsafe, and said he didn’t want to be there, before begging Tony Khan to fire him, screaming that he was a “f*cking mark.” With MJF in mid-explosion, his mic was cut off and the show went to a commercial break.
The promo wasn’t mentioned again on the show, and clips weren’t posted on social media as usual. In addition, MJF was removed from the AEW roster page and his merchandise was taken down from their online store.
After the initial chaos died down, there has been no update on MJF’s status. However, Fightul Select have now given a glimpse behind the scenes at the relationship between the seemingly want-away star and AEW.
The report states that not a single AEW talent of staff figure has admitted to hearing from the star since June 1st. Even those close to him haven’t had any communication.
One thing that can be confirmed is that MJF stayed in Los Angeles following Dynamite on June 1st for a series of meetings relating to non-wrestling projects. Last week there was also word that the Dynamite Diamond Ring winner was in New Jersey filming with cast members of Impractical Jokers, which is on TruTV, a Warner Bros. Discovery station. There has been no confirmation that the filming was for the show.
Those in AEW who spoke to Fightful said they haven’t overheard Tony Khan speak about MJF since June 1st. Furthermore it is believed that no one in wrestling has spoken to the star since his infamous promo. There are also some within AEW who believe that he still wants to move to WWE.
