WrestleMania 38 could see a significant shake-up to the usual schedule with a new report saying there is no NXT TakeOver or Hall Of Fame scheduled.
The WWE Hall Of Fame opened in 1993 to induct the legendary André The Giant after the French star’s tragic passing. But it wasn’t until WrestleMania 20 in 2004 that the WWE Hall Of Fame ceremony became an integral part of the WrestleMania weekend.
Held for a long-time on the night before that year’s corresponding WrestleMania event, the WWE Hall Of Fame has in the past moved nights to make way for a newer edition to the WrestleMania experience, NXT TakeOver.
TakeOver event began coinciding with WrestleMania in 2016 with NXT TakeOver: Dallas taking place two days before the massive WrestleMania 32.
Now Dave Meltzer in his Wrestling Observer Newsletter says neither a Hall Of Fame ceremony or NXT event is planned for WrestleMania weekend when The Grandest Stage Of Them All returns to Texas in 2022:
“Regarding WrestleMania week, the company announced the full schedule. Keys are that there is no NXT Takeover or NXT event right now scheduled, nor is there a Hall of Fame event announced at this point, although that could be added for Thursday.”
NXT recently announced their WarGames event which will take place on December 5th, 2021. Interestingly WWE seems to have dropped TakeOver from the name of that event and it is not known if TakeOver as a name will return given the rebrand of NXT to NXT 2.0.
