WWE is said to have no immediate creative plans for a long-time NXT star after their TV storyline was suddenly dropped.
Last week, Fightful Select reported that Gigi Dolin’s storyline with Arianna Grace had been dropped, though no details were given as to why. Grace had taken on Dolin under her wing after defeating her in a match back in March and was preparing to give her a makeover.
Dolin hasn’t competed since her loss to Grace and, what’s more, hasn’t appeared on NXT whatsoever in almost two months. Now, more insight into Dolin’s current situation has come to light.
Corey Brennan provided an update on Dolin’s status during a recent Fightful Select Q&A, reiterating that her storyline with Grace has been dropped and that there are currently no plans for her within the black and gold brand at the moment.
“We’ve been looking into Gigi’s situation a bit, and the most we can confirm now is her storyline with Ariana Grace was dropped. It was dropped for a number of reasons, but we have not been able to confirm them as of now, and for now, there are no immediate plans for Gigi Dolin at this time in NXT.”
WWE NXT Attained Impressive Ratings Ahead Of Battleground
WWE NXT’s next Premium Live Event, NXT Battleground, is set to emanate from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas tomorrow night. The show will see a major cross-promotional clash as NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez will defend her title against TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace.
Ahead of the Premium Live Event, Dave Meltzer reported that the show’s TV programming has seen a noticeable surge in viewership over the last few weeks. Ratings have been so strong for the program that it’s comparing favourably against AEW Collision, Rampage and even Dynamite.
