New Japan Pro-Wrestling have closed their Wrestle Kingdom 16 spectacle with a history-making third night and inter-promotional battle against Pro Wrestling NOAH from the Yokohama Arena.
The 16th annual Wrestle Kingdom has marked multiple firsts in the event’s history. For the first time ever, the event has spanned three nights just two years after the promotion broke the mold by adding a second night of the show on January 5th.
Following two nights showcasing the very best of New Japan – the first of which saw Kazuchika Okada capture the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship – the stars of Pro Wrestling NOAH entered the Yokohama Area to lock horns for the groundbreaking event.
Wrestle Kingdom 16 Night 3 Results
In the first of a double main event, two of Japan’s most popular stables collided in a 10-man tag team match when New Japan’s Los Ingobernables De Japon took on NOAH’s KONGO, before the show closed with an iconic match when New Japan’s “dream team” of Kazuchika Okada and Hiroshi Tanahashi faced off against wrestling legend Keiji Mutoh and Kaito Kiyomiya.
Elsewhere on the card, NOAH’s Sugiura-gun had to go to battle without KENTA, who suffered an injury on night two of Wrestle Kingdom in his loss of the IWGP United States Championship to Hiroshi Tanahashi in a No Disqualification match, when they took on New Japan’s Suzuki-gun. Plus, new NEVER Openweight Champion EVIL teamed with House of Torture partner Dick Togo when pitted against Go Shiozaki and Masa Kitamiya.
