New Japan Pro-Wrestling continue their annual spectacle from the Tokyo Dome with night 2 of Wrestle Kingdom 16!

The 16th annual Wrestle Kingdom has marked multiple firsts in the event’s history. For the first time ever, the event will span three nights just two years after the promotion broke the mold by adding a second night of the show on January 5th.

Stars from Japanese promotions World Wonder Ring Stardom and Pro Wrestling NOAH will also feature at the event, the latter will go head-to-head with the stars of New Japan during the show’s history-making third night which is being themed as a ‘New Japan vs NOAH’ event.

Wrestle Kingdom 16 Night 2 Results

After successfully dethroning Shingo Takagi for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship on night 1, Okada proved he was the true World Champion once and for all against former CHAOS stablemate Will Ospreay with a decisive Rainmaker. Their rivalry extends well beyond the title, however, with Ospreay costing Okada a chance to win the G1 Climax 30 back in October 2020.

Early on in the show, a special Stardom showcase match took place as Saya Kamitani & Tam Nakano defeated Mayu Iwatani & Starlight Kid. Whilst previous Wrestle Kingdoms featured a Stardom match on the card, Wrestle Kingdom 16 marked the first to air the Stardom bout live on the main show.

Elsewhere on the card, Robbie Eagles & Tiger Mask of Flying Tiger retained the IWGP Jr Heavyweight Tag Team Championship against Bullet Club’s Cutest Tag Team & The Mega Coaches, Minoru Suzuki captured the King of Pro Wrestling 2022 Trophy and Hiroshi Tanahashi dethroned IWGP US Heavyweight Champion KENTA in a brutal No Disqualification match!
