NJPW returns to Nashville with Music City Mayhem which features the debut of FTR and Jon Moxley clashing with El Desperado in a No Disqualification war. You can find the results right here!
As part of Starrcast V in Nashville, Tennessee, the stars of NJPW do battle in multiple cross-promotional match-ups.
In the first of two title matches, Rocky Romero faced his former partner in No Remorse Corps, Davey Richards, for the MLW National Openweight Championship.
Romero controlled much of the match, focusing on Richards’ right arm and ribs, but the champ was able to rally with his own offence. In the end, Richards was able to pull out the win with a roll-up and the pair hugged in the ring.
Up next, STRONG Openweight Champion Fred Rosser faced one of his toughest challenges yet in the form of the Beast from Belfast, Big Damo. Damo immediately began taking Rosser apart in and out of the ring.
After finally being able to make a comeback, Rosser got into a striking contest with Damo and was able to take him down. Damo went back to the ribs but it wasn’t enough to put the champ away and Rosser hit him with the Sindwinder for the win.
Hiromu Takahashi and Blake Christian changed the pace completely with fast Junior Heavyweight action. After some back and forth, Christian took the advantage and focused on Takahashi’s surgically repaired neck. After a brutal striking duel, the pair had several near falls before Takahashi put Christian away with Time Bomb 2.
Just weeks after capturing the IWGP Tag Team Championships at Forbidden Door, AEW stars FTR made their debut NJPW debut teaming with Alex Zayne to take on the United Empire trio of Aussie Open and TJP.
The focus going into the event was on FTR, but United Empire made its presence felt, taking it to the champs. Zayne was in the ring for much of the match and did his best to hold back TJP and Aussie Open, but the trio isolated the Top Guys and pinned Zayne.
After the victory, Aussie Open issued a challenge for the IWGP Tag Team Championships which FTR happily accepted.
Best friends collided as IMPACT Wrestling’s Alex Shelley answered the challenge of his former partner in the Time Splitters, KUSHIDA. The pair know each other inside-out and it showed in how evenly matched they were throughout the bout.
As the match entered its final seconds, the two desperately traded moves, KUSHIDA hooked in the Hoverboard Lock but it was too late and the bout reached a time-limit draw.

In the main event, the Interim AEW World Champion Jon Moxley took on Suzuki-Gun’s El Desperado in a No Disqualification match. if anyone was unsure of Desperado’s hardcore credentials, he put the doubts to rest when he rammed a handful of wooden skewers deep into Moxley’s forehead. Moxley came back with a guitar shot to the former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champ, then used a piece of the guitar to stab at him.
From there, the pair went to war with anything they could get their hands on from tables to a board covered in half-cut soda cans. Moxley eventually got the win after Desperado passed out to a wrenching Sleeper Hold.
