NJPW launched a shocking invasion of AEW on the May 25th episode Dynamite, leaving a trail of chaos and broken tables in their wake.

With cross-promoted super-show, Forbidden Door just a few short weeks away, New Japan Pro Wrestling decided to make their presence known in AEW territory.

On Dynamite, FTR were scheduled to defend their Ring of Honor World Tag Team Titles against Roppongi Vice. For much of the bout, neither team was able to gain the advantage, as the momentum swung back and forth. However, as the action continued to intensify, it was Rocky Romero and Trent who began to close in on the win earning themselves a couple of stunningly close near-falls.

Just after Dax kicked out of the Strong Zero, New Japan’s Jeff Cobb and Great-O-Khan of the United Empire ran in and started striking anything that moved. In front of a stunned Las Vegas crowd, Cobb drove Dax through a table outside the ring, before Great-O-Khan repeated the trick on Trent.

With broken bodies and broken furniture littering ringside, the NJPW stars stood stall in the middle of the ring holding FTR’s ROH Tag Team Titles.

Forbidden Door is set to take place on June 26th at the United Center in Chicago. At time of writing no matches have been announced for the event.

As the show draws ever closer, New Japan star Will Ospreay has already cast his mind forward to who he might be stepping in the ring with. Speaking in a recent interview, Ospreay suggested that he’d love to face Bryan Danielson or CM Punk, but refused to rule out squaring off against a “homegrown” AEW star.

Elsewhere on Dynamite, Wardlow defeated Shawn Spears in a Steel Cage Match despite MJF serving as the special guest referee.
