NJPW G1 Climax 32 continues with a main event grudge match between former best friends David Finlay and Juice Robinson. You can find the results right here!
The G1 Climax tournament is one of the biggest events in the pro wrestling calendar and this year features 28 men competing across four blocks.
Two points are earned for every victory, one point is earned for a draw, and zero points are awarded for a loss. The top point scorer in each block will then advance to semi-finals on August 17th, before the finals on August 18th.
The winner of the tournament will earn an IWGP World Heavyweight Championship match at Wrestle Kingdom 17 in January 2023.
Should the current IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, Jay White, win the tournament then he will earn the right to choose his opponent at New Japan’s biggest show of the year.
In the first of the block matches, Great O-Khan lived up to his Dominator nickname as he appeared to be in complete control of Bullet Club’s Crown Jewel, Chase Owens. However, after taking a lot of punishment, Owens turned the table by dropping O-Khan throat-first onto the top rope before hitting a C-Trigger and Package Piledriver in quick succession for the win.
Next up, EVIL entered the fray in an intra-factional affair against fellow Bullet Club member KENTA. Things started off fun with some promotion of KENTA’s autobiography but soon turned serious when EVIL attempted to choke him out with a t-shirt. After a chair duel on the outside, Dick Togo prevented KENTA from getting back in the ring, resulting in a countout loss.
The semi-main event saw the leader of Team Filthy, Tom Lawlor, facing off against AEW’s Lance Archer. Lawlor came out of the blocks attacking Archer’s legs, but the Murderhawk Monster soon used his power advantage against the smaller man. Lawlor rallied a few times but quickly got shut down. Despite his best efforts, Lawlor could not wear Archer down and the AEW star put him away with the Blackout.
In the main event, former best friends collided as David Finlay took on Juice Robinson. Finlay showed a new intensity throughout the match as he took it to the man who turned on him. Meanwhile, Rock Hard got in some brutal including two stiff Left Hands of God and a piledriver to the exposed floor. The end came when Finlay dodged an attempted belt shot, hit Juice in the head with his shillelagh and dropped him with Trash Panda for the cathartic victory.
