G1 Climax 32 Night 18 Okada vs Archer

NJPW G1 Climax 32 has reached its final night of league action where eight block matches will determine who reaches the semi-finals. You can find the results right here!

The G1 Climax tournament is one of the biggest events in the pro wrestling calendar and this year features 28 men competing across four blocks.

Two points are earned for every victory, one point is earned for a draw, and zero points are awarded for a loss. The top point scorer in each block will then advance to semi-finals on August 17th, before the finals on August 18th.

The winner of the tournament will earn an IWGP World Heavyweight Championship match at Wrestle Kingdom 17 in January 2023.

Should the current IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, Jay White, win the tournament then he will earn the right to choose his opponent at New Japan’s biggest show of the year.

Night 18 features eight block matches and when the dust has settled there should only be four men left heading into the semi-finals tomorrow.

Things kicked off with D Block, the most chaotic of the tournament. Will Ospreay immediately put an end to Operation Chaos by defeating Juice Robinson in a brutal bout and removing the threat of a seven-way tie in the process.

In the next match, El Phantasmo weathered a storm of hard-hitting moves from Shingo Takagi to take the win with Sudden Death and two CR2s. This ended Takagi’s campaign and meant that, on eight points, Will Ospreay has gone through to the semi-finals.

In the C Block, EVIL eliminated Hirooki Goto with the help of Dick Togo. This meant that the block would be decided by Tetsuya Naito vs. Zack Sabre Jr. It didn’t take much time as after some back and forth, Naito rolled up ZSJ for the victory in under three minutes to move to the next stage.

Both A and B blocks came down to one match each. In B Block, Tama Tonga defeated Jay White with the Gun Stun, finally getting revenge on the man who kicked him out of Bullet Club and moving on to the next stage.

A Block was determined in the main event as Kazuchika Okada clashed with AEW’s Lance Archer. The Murderhawk Monster dominated much of the match and looked on the verge of winning after hitting his own version of The Rainmaker. However, Okada took everything he had to offer and came back with a huge Landslide and Rainmaker for the pinfall victory to take the block.

Tomorrow the semi-finals will see Will Ospreay take on Tetsuya Naito and Kazuchika Okada battle Tama Tonga to see who reaches the final night on August 18th.
