During night one of Wrestle Kingdom 15, NJPW announced they would be launching a new mobile game later this year.
In a teaser video featuring now-former IWGP Champion Tetsuya Naito and Takaaki Kidani, the Founder of NJPW’s parent company Bushiroad, it was revealed that the game will be titled ‘NJPW Strong Spirits’ and released worldwide.
“The action, excitement and passion of New Japan Pro-Wrestling will be hitting smart devices worldwide in 2021, courtesy of DreCom and Bushimo! There’s much more news to come from Strong Spirits, so make sure you follow @njpwss_global on Twitter and check out the game’s official website for more!”
This will be the latest of several mobile games NJPW have created in the last few years. In 2018, they released their first English-language game, ‘King of Sports’, which allowed players to play as their favourite NJPW stars competing for the IWGP Championship. They followed this up in 2019 with ‘NJPW Collection’, a card-collecting game where players can collect virtual trading cards with wrestlers from the past and present, as well as classic moments in NJPW history.
This year, Wrestle Kingdom is once again taking place across two action-packed nights. Night one saw Kota Ibushi defeat Tetsuya Naito for the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Championships and he will now go on to defend them in the main event of night two. We will have full results right here at Inside the Ropes as they happen.
