A new NJPW documentary will give fans a look behind the Forbidden Door.
AEW X NJPW: Forbidden Door took place on June 26th in Chicago. The cross-promotional PPV featured Jon Moxley defeating Hiroshi Tanahashi in the main event to become Interim AEW World Champion.
As the Forbidden Door closes, for now, NJPW is giving fans a unique behind-the-scenes look at the event. The promotion announced a new documentary that will hit on their subscription-based video streaming service, New Japan World. No further details as to when the documentary will arrive have been revealed.
A lot of talent was missing from the Forbidden Door card, most notably CM Punk, who revealed a foot injury before the event. Former NXT Champion Andrade El Idolo didn’t feature anywhere on the card as his lack of participation was due to an ongoing feud between AAA and CMLL. New Japan has a close relationship with CMLL. Since Andrade regularly works for AAA, he couldn’t compete at the event.

Will Ospreay discussed the issues involving the two promotions in a recent interview and said he wants to help hash things out. There is currently no word on whether a Forbidden Door sequel will take place in the future. If one does, it may still be without AAA talent being involved.
