NJPW Star Claims AEW Is Full Of “Unrefined” Indy Wrestlers

An NJPW star who has previously appeared on AEW television has hit out at the company, saying it is full of “unrefined and ill-educated” indy wrestlers.

The Great-O-Khan is hated by fans of New Japan Pro Wrestling as part of the villainous United Empire group. Despite his lack of fan popularity, O-Khan has made a name for himself as part of Will Ospreay’s gang and has previously held the IWGP Tag Team Championship twice with teammate Jeff Cobb.

The NJPW team lost their tag team gold back in June at Forbidden Door as ROH and AAA Tag Team Champions FTR unseated them for their title to add a seventh star to their own legacy.

Speaking in an interview with Wrestle Inn, The Great-O-Khan looked back on his time competing with AEW stars and did not have much positive to say:

“We felt that AEW is full of indy wrestlers. There are plenty of formidable wrestlers there, but they are unrefined and ill-educated. A shame.”

The Great-O-Khan was recently a part of the 2022 G1 Climax tournament that was won by NJPW’s resident Rainmaker, Kazuchika Okada.

It will be O-Khan’s United Empire teammates Aussie Open that attempt to claw back the IWGP Tag Team Championship from FTR when the two teams clash in London at Royal Quest II.
