Nixed Plans For Edge WrestleMania Entrance With Live Music Revealed

Edge AJ Styles

Edge’s former theme song Metalingus is one of the most recognizable themes in history, and it was once supposed to be performed live at WrestleMania!

WWE Hall of Famer Edge has gone through a variety of theme songs during his decades-long career in WWE, but none is more recognizable than that of Alter Bridge’s Metalingus. The Ultimate Opportunist is now using a different theme by the same band after turning to the dark side in anticipation of his match with AJ Styles at WrestleMania.

When a fan on Facebook expressed disappointment at not seeing Alter Bridge play Edge to the ring live at WrestleMania 38, their manager Tim Tournier revealed that plans were in place for them to perform at WrestleMania 36 before the event was moved from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL, to the Performance Center due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We actually booked this in 2020, it was all set – everyone was getting ready to fly in but it got canceled due to COVID. WWE and Edge have been great to us over the years, we love them and would jump at any opportunity to work with them.”

At WrestleMania 36, Edge and Randy Orton squared off in a cinematic Last Man Standing match that marked Edge’s first singles bout since his shock return earlier that year at the Royal Rumble.

WrestleMania 38 saw the Rated R Superstar take on AJ Styles after Styles answered an open challenge and received a beatdown on Monday Night Raw. Near the end of the match, Damian Priest made an appearance and distracted Styles, allowing Edge to hit a spear for the win. The two sealed their new alliance with a maniacal grin as they posed together in the middle of the ring.
