Nikki Cross could be set to miss WWE Clash of Champions according to Dave Meltzer on the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Radio.
Cross, who is set to challenge Bayley for the SmackDown Women’s Championship, missed Friday’s show both on and off-screen. Her absence caused Meltzer to question whether the proposed match would even go ahead on Sunday evening.
On the situation, Meltzer had this to say:
“If she’s there, she’s there. I asked this morning [Saturday] if she was going to be there, and nobody got back to me, which is your answer.”
Currently, it is unknown why Nikki Cross missed Friday’s edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown. While injury is a distinct possibility, there is no concrete evidence linking her absence to the recent COVID-19 outbreak at the WWE Performance Centre.
Should Nikki Cross miss WWE Clash of Champions, a replacement would need to be found at the last minute as every main roster WWE Championship is slated to be defended at the event.
The Scot earned her place as No.1 Contender when she defeated Alexa Bliss, Tamina and Lacey Evans in a Battle Royal on the September 11th, WWE Friday Night SmackDown and was last seen on television defeating Evans on the September 18th edition of the blue brand.
