Nikki Cross Throws Newly-Won 24/7 Championship In The Trash

Nikki Cross

On October 24th, Nikki Cross made a splash when she returned to WWE Raw in the main event Raw Women’s Championship match between Bianca Belair and Bayley. Though she initially cost Belair the match, she turned her attention to Damage CTRL after the bout, attacking all three members and leaving Bayley lying in the ring alongside Bianca Belair.

At WWE Crown Jewel, Cross’ chaos continued when she interfered in the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship, causing Asuka and Alexa Bliss to lose their newly-won championships back to Dakota Kai and IYO SKY.

Nikki Cross Defeated Dana Brooke To Become The New 24/7 Champion On WWE Raw

On the November 7th episode of WWE Raw, Nikki Cross took on Dana Brooke for the 24/7 Championship while Bayley sat on commentary. This is far from the first time the two have squared off for the title, though every time Cross has won the belt in the past, she’s lost it soon after.

This time, however, Nikki Cross was able to defeat Dana Brooke clean in the middle of the ring, and she wasn’t immediately attacked for the belt afterward. Instead, as she and the members of Damage CTRL were walking down the hallway backstage, Nikki nonchalantly threw the title in a trash can, signaling that the belt might not be featured on WWE programming in the future.

Dana Brooke’s reign as 24/7 Champion used to be heavily featured on WWE Raw, and last April, Dana married her tag team partner Reggie in a chaotic double wedding alongside Akira Tozawa and Tamina. However, Brooke declared she wanted a divorce weeks later as Reggie continuously tried to pin her and regain the championship for himself. In recent months, it’s been increasingly rare to see the belt featured on television, so it might make sense that Nikki Cross is its last official champion for the time being.

Nikki Cross isn’t the only one to throw a title belt in the trash in recent memory as WWE NXT’s Cora Jade did the same after winning the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships alongside friend-turned-rival Roxanne Perez. Alundra Blayze made an appearance the next week to address the situation, herself having famously binned the WWE Women’s Championship in 1995.

Elsewhere on WWE Raw, Mia Yim made her surprise WWE return and aligned herself with The OC to help in their fight against The Judgment Day and Rhea Ripley. Full results from the November 7th episode can be found here.
