Nikki Bella Reveals John Cena’s Surprising Link To Artem Chigvintsev Wedding

John Cena Nikki Bella

Nikki Bella tied the knot to Artem Chigvintsev in August 2020, but her something old had a special connection to her ex-fiancé John Cena.

In an interview with Us Weekly, the WWE Hall of Famer revealed that her wedding dress was something she had picked out when she was still engaged to Cena.

“I had the moment with that dress … when I saw it. It was all something that I dreamed of.”

Bella explained that the dress was a symbol of her strength and empowerment, and she refused to let her past stop her from wearing what she loved. She and Cena had been together for six years before calling off their engagement just before their wedding.

“For me, it (reflects) how I stand as a strong woman, I was like wait, why should I not wear what I love? Because of my past? It just didn’t make sense to me.”

It Doesn’t Bother Artem Chigvintsev That Nikki Bella Picked Out Her Wedding Dress While Still With John Cena

Chigvintsev spoke about the reactions from other people and said that he didn’t think it was going to be such a big deal. He emphasized that wasting time talking about it was pointless, as it did not bother him at all.

“I didn’t think it was going to be that big of a deal for people to react how I reacted. I think (if there’s) an issue with it, they’re bringing some other energy into our happiness. Why would we want to even waste time talking about it? It did not bother me at all.”

The couple first met as partners on “Dancing With the Stars” in 2017, and they were engaged in November 2019. They welcomed their son Matteo in July 2020, and their nuptials will now be documented in a four-part E! special titled “Nikki Bella Says I Do,” which will air Thursday at 9 pm.

As for Cena, he is heavily rumored to be participating in the upcoming WrestleMania 39 in Los Angeles, CA, though his participation has not been confirmed. Front-runners for his potential opponent include both Austin Theory and Logan Paul. He recently returned to the ring on the December 30th episode of SmackDown, teaming with Kevin Owens to defeat the team of Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn.
