In a recent interview, Nick Khan, the President of WWE, provided insights into the impact of the allegations against Vince McMahon and the subsequent resignation of McMahon from his executive role at TKO.
Following the announcement of a groundbreaking ten-year deal between WWE and Netflix, Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against Vince McMahon, WWE, and former executive John Laurinaitis, accusing McMahon of sex trafficking, emotional abuse, and sexual assault. Khan, in an interview on The Town with Matthew Belloni, addressed the potential influence of these allegations on the Netflix deal, stating:
I don’t know about killed, but it certainly wouldn’t have helped the deal. Those allegations are obviously horrific and serious and we take them and interpret them the same way any other reasonable person or organisation would interpret them. You saw the quick resignation.
When questioned about any pressure from Netflix for McMahon to resign, Khan clarified, “No.” He also affirmed McMahon’s disassociation from WWE, stating:
No. Zero. He chose to resign. There was no litigation.
It’s worth noting that Khan and COO Brad Blum were previously identified as Corporate Officers in the lawsuit. Despite McMahon’s denial of the allegations, he remains under federal investigation.
