Throughout the decades, WWE has constantly been looking for the next breakout Superstar who could potentially carry the company into the next generation and become a star that transcends the wrestling business.
The likes of Hulk Hogan, The Rock and John Cena have all made that step to global stardom and one WWE Executive believes that a Superstar who currently has just a handful of matches under his belt will be the next leading light in WWE.
Nick Khan Names Logan Paul As The Next Big Thing
Nick Khan was on hand at MoffettNathanson’s Inaugural Technology, Media, and Telecom Conference recently and highlighted Logan Paul as the next big thing in WWE:
“With Logan, we were getting pitched on internally by our entertainment relations folks. Logan Paul is going to be the next big thing. He came in and took it seriously, as did Bad Bunny. It registered. It mattered. Our young audience spiked.”
Whilst excited by Logan Paul’s potential, Khan hastened to add that the Superstars who work week in, week out were also key to the company:
“Our bread and butter are our full-time superstars, but to be able to bring in Bad Bunny and Logan Paul and Pat McAfee at different points, it just increases awareness, which is good for us.”
Despite being considered the next big thing by Khan, Logan Paul recently made it clear that he had no desire to work full time and was happy to work a handful of Premium Live Events each year. Speaking on his podcast Impaulsive, he noted:
“I just feel kind of, not bad, but you have the weeklies, who are actively building this organization every single week, and I get to come in and capitalize on the good will that they’ve sacrificed their bodies for, four times a year. By the way, I’m not going to stop. For the wrestlers listening, I’m cognizant of it, and I appreciate your hard work that I get to benefit off of four times a year,”
