Nick Aldis continues to prove why he’s the face of the NWA.
According to Fightful Select, former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis took a pretty large pay cut when re-signing with the company in 2021.
At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, wrestlers, fans, companies, and everyone in-between struggled with one issue or another, however, the professional wrestling business didn’t skip a beat. Per the report, Nick Aldis, among everyone else on the NWA roster saw their pay reduced as a cost-cutting measure during the pandemic.
NWA President Billy Corgan exercised an option in Aldis’ contract for 2021 and the latter would sign a short-term one-year extension that runs through the duration of 2022. Despite reportedly holding a big money offer from AEW, Aldis signed the one-year deal to stay with NWA, albeit taking a significant reduction in his salary.
Unlike Aldis, other NWA stars departed the company throughout the pandemic, perhaps most notably, inaugural NWA World Television Champion, Ricky Starks, who allowed his deal with NWA to expire in May 2020 before debuting for All Elite Wrestling, one month later.
