Nick Aldis, the former IMPACT Wrestling star, has been out of action since July due to a back injury. However, he has remained involved in the wrestling world by taking on a new role as a producer in WWE.
In a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Nick Aldis shed light on his deal with WWE and his current position within the company. When asked about his role at WWE, Aldis jokingly replied:
None at the moment.
He explained that WWE had invited him to observe and learn about the inner workings of the company, shadowing as a producer and participating in meetings and television operations.
They just invited me to come and see how everything works and shadow as a producer and be part of the meetings and the whole television operation.
Aldis emphasised that although he had worn many hats behind the scenes in his previous tenure with NWA, the sheer scale and magnitude of WWE were awe-inspiring.
I’ve worn a lot of hats, I think people who have followed my career, particularly in the last few years, know that, in addition to wrestling, I was wearing a lot of hats behind the scenes at my last place [NWA]. I certainly don’t feel like it’s a completely new situation to me. Having said that, there is pro wrestling and there is WWE. Just taking in the sheer volume of the operation and the number of people involved and the scale of everything, just that alone has been the basis of my time so far.
Aldis acknowledged that his relationship with WWE was still in its early stages and that it was a “handshake situation” for now. He appreciated WWE’s accommodating nature and their focus on ensuring that he genuinely enjoyed the experience.
Has Nick Aldis Retired From Wrestling?
The internet and social media have been quick to assume that Nick Aldis’ involvement with WWE meant retirement from in-ring competition, but Aldis clarified that he was not retired and had even booked several dates for September.
While Aldis expressed his desire to wrestle again, he acknowledged that the decision ultimately rested on various factors. He appreciated WWE’s openness and understanding, stating that if he chose not to pursue a wrestling career with them, they would be supportive. Aldis firmly believed that he was still in his prime at 36 years old and expressed his eagerness to explore other opportunities while keeping the wrestling option open.
