Despite taking up a backstage role with WWE, Nick Aldis isn’t ready to hang up his boots just yet
In recent weeks Nick Aldis has been shadowing as a producer in WWE — something confirmed by his wife Mickie James. Booby Roode — another former IMPACT Wrestling star — has also been working in a similar position.
Many fans were surprised to see Aldis take up the position backstage given he’s only 36, with some believing this was the British star stepping away from in-ring competition. However, according to Aldis, that isn’t the case.
Appearing on Nico Knows Best, the former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion hit back at the idea he’s retiring as a wrestler.
“Because of the discussions about a different role, immediately it jumps to, ‘Oh, he’s not wrestling anymore, he’s retiring, is he done wrestling?’ Hold on. I’m 36 years old. Maybe another blessing and curse in my career is that I got started on a national/international stage very early in my career. I was signed at 21. Sometimes, I get put in the generation ahead of me in terms of age. I’m 36. I’m very much in my prime. Wait a minute, where is all this discussion about being done wrestling come from? Everyone needs to chill,”
When Did Nick Aldis Last Wrestle?
Nick Aldis last wrestled on July 30th when he took to the ring at AML Battle Scars to defeat Gustavo. His most recent match for a major promotion came on July 16th for IMPACT Wrestling when he was beaten by Eric Young. The match was broadcast on July 27th.
The star’s short-term deal with IMPACT then expired.
In recent news, Nick Aldis has spoken about his deal with WWE.
