Nick Aldis has given his thoughts on being the new General Manager of WWE SmackDown.
On the October 13th edition of SmackDown, Triple H made a special appearance. During the show, he called out Adam Pearce and praised him for the way he had run both Raw and SmackDown over the course of the last three years.
The Game then announced that Pearce was being promoted to be the General Manager of Raw. Before he could reveal Pearce’s counterpart on the blue brand, Dominik Mysterio came out to complain about Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso defending their Undisputed Tag Team Titles only days before they were due to put them on the line against The Judgment Day on Raw.
At this point, Triple H brought out the new SmackDown GM, two-time NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis.
Aldis’ first act as GM was to complete the trade Rhodes had set up to bring Uso to the blue brand, revealing that SmackDown’s newest superstar was Kevin Owens. KO then made his way to the ring and took Mysterio out with a Stunner.
Nick Aldis is “feeling wonderful” about becoming WWE SmackDown GM
In a WWE video following the show, Aldis said it was “a huge thrill” to have been chosen for his new position.
“I’m feeling wonderful. Like I said out there, it’s the opportunity of a lifetime to be the general manager of SmackDown, the number one brand in all of sports entertainment. Wow.
“It’s a testament to the many hats that I’ve worn in the industry outside of the ring. To be bestowed that trust by Triple H and the rest of the management team at WWE is a huge thrill.”
In a 2024 interview, Nick Aldis discussed the possibility of one more match, specifically in WWE.
