Nia Jax Told WWE “F*ck No” When Asked About Royal Rumble Return

Nia Jax

Former Raw Women’s Champion Nia Jax says she was emphatic about not returning to WWE after she was offered a spot in the women’s Royal Rumble.

At the 2022 Royal Rumble, thirteen former WWE Superstars and WWE Hall Of Famers joined the field in the women’s Royal Rumble match. Stars such as Lita, Melina, and The Bella Twins rolled back the years as they attempted to claim a place in the main event of WrestleMania.

In the end, it was returning star ‘Rowdy’ Ronda Rousey that shocked everyone when she emerged as the 28th entrant in the match and walked away the winner.

Now former Raw Women’s Champion Nia Jax has detailed her incredulous reaction to being offered a spot in the Rumble match on Renee Paquette’s The Sessions podcast. Jax was emphatic about not returning to the company less than three months after she was released, and thought the initial phone call from the company was about getting her possessions back:

“I was in the middle of trying to get my stuff back right? I had a bunch of crap, you know how it is, you’re just shoving stuff in everybody’s boxes. They sent me a box and more than half was missing, I’m like ‘yo what’s going on?'”

“So when I got the call, I thought it was about where’s my stuff. So I answered and was like ‘hey what’s up?’ It’s my homie in TR and they’re like ‘hey Savelina – my official name – we’re just calling to see if you’d be interested in participating in the Royal Rumble?’ And I started hysterically laughing because I thought it was my friend joking with me.”

“I was like ‘oh you’re frickin’ hilarious’ and he was like ‘no, this is an official call.’ I was like ‘oh, f*ck no, I’m not coming back.’ And he was like ‘we’d like to offer you this…’ and I was like first of all, I already know I’m still under my 90 days, you’re still going to be paying me anyway so you’re not offering me anything and I was like no, I’m not f*cking coming back, absolutely f*cking not.”

Nia Jax went onto reveal that the call was only to see if she’d be willing to go on a list of potential entrants for Vince McMahon to choose his favourites from:

“This is what I was told, they’re accumulating a list – they wanted to offer me an opportunity – accumulate a list that they send to Vince, then Vince goes through the list and picks who he wants and who he doesn’t.”

“I was like ‘so you’re asking me to be part of the list to go to the next step? F*ck no, how much more can you sh*t on me dude?'”

Jax wasn’t the only former WWE star who refused the offer of a place in the Royal Rumble. The former IIconics Cassie Lee and Jessie McKay are also said to have turned down an approach.
