Nia Jax has looked back on her time away from WWE and her successful second run in the company.
In November 2021, Jax was released from her contract and was one of hundreds of names let go during the pandemic as a result of “budget cuts.” Unlike others who were released during that period who chose to compete on the independents or sign with a major company, The Irresistible Force stayed away from the ring entirely.
However, following on from a surprise return in the 2023 Royal Rumble, Jax later returned full-time in September of that year. Going on to win the 2024 Queen of the Ring Tournament and defeat Bayley to become the new Women’s Champion, many are in agreement that Jax’s return run has been a major improvement compared to her initial main roster run.
Speaking with Cathy Kelley on the promoion’s YouTube Channel, Jax admitted that the release was the best thing that could have happened to her:
“It was probably the best thing that ever happened to me. At first, yes, it was difficult to sit there and realize that I won’t be out there entertaining everybody, on the road and enjoying the travels. It actually helped restore my passion and love for wrestling. I felt like I was starting to lose a little bit of the ‘why?’ I tell people all the time it was one of the best things that happened to me. I felt like I reset Nia Jax. Now, I’m the best Nia Jax ever. I’m only getting better. I needed to take that little bit of time off and find myself again.”
Nia Jax Compares Title Reigns
As a result of the SummerSlam victory, Jax is now a two-time Women’s Champion after first winning the title at WrestleMania 34. In a recent interview, Nia Jax explained why the second reign meant so much more to her compared to the first one.
In a new interview, Nia Jax addressed the probability of joining The Bloodline.
