WWE Raw Superstar Nia Jax is reportedly taking an extended period off television following an on-screen attack by her former tag team partner.
Nia Jax had been teaming with Shayna Baszler since August 2020 when they won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship at Payback from Sasha Banks and Bayley. Together the dangerous duo held the title until December of that year when they lost to the unlikely team of Charlotte Flair and Asuka. At the 2021 Royal Rumble Nia Jax and Baszler recaptured the gold, holding the title for five months until losing the belts once again on SmackDown to Tamina and Natalya.
The two women continued to team together but as the uneasiness grew between Jax and Baszler, the two women faced off on the 20th of September episode of Raw in one-on-one action. Shayna Baszler won the match but she was not finished with her tag team partner as she launched a brutal attack on Nia Jax.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider has now reported that the attack from Baszler could have been to write Jax off television with a storyline injury. The report states that Nia Jax could well be “taking an extended period of time off.” Despite the possible time off for Jax she was part of the supplemental WWE Draft and will remain a part of Raw.
‘The Irresistible Force’ has been with WWE for seven years since joining NXT in 2014. Jax joined the company’s main roster in 2016 when she was part of that year’s WWE Draft. After an initial alliance with Alexa Bliss, Bliss turned on Jax culminating in a match for Bliss’ Raw Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 34 which Nia Jax won, becoming the red brand’s Women’s Champion for so far the only time in her career.
