Former Raw Women’s Champion Nia Jax was a forced to be reckoned with during her time in WWE, but she recently showed a different side of herself when she posted a photo from her high school days.
Taking to her Instagram stories, the real life Lina Fanene posted a photo of herself and a date from her freshman year in high school as the two attended a homecoming dance. The future star sported an updo with twists in her hair along with soft makeup, far different from her future presence as Nia Jax. The photo can be seen below.
Nia Jax Returned To WWE In The 2023 Royal Rumble
Prior to the 2023 Royal Rumble, Jax hadn’t been seen inside a wrestling ring since September of 2021. Seven years after signing her WWE contract, the star was surprisingly released in November of 2021. She was announced to face CJ Perry (formerly known as Lana) for the startup Wrestling Entertainment Series promotion, but the show was postponed and then ultimately cancelled.
More than two years after her most recent match, Jax shocked the world when the sounds of her theme rang out throughout the Alamodome in San Antonio, TX on January 28th. The star made a surprise Royal Rumble entrance at number 30, garnering heavy boos from the crowd in attendance. Despite being a monstrous presence, Jax was eliminated in under two minutes when eleven women teamed up to throw her over the top rope.
Rhea Ripley was the eventual winner of the match, last eliminating Liv Morgan. She will go on to face Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 39 in Los Angeles, CA.
Speaking on a 2022 episode of the Wives of Wrestling Podcast, Jax opened up about her future in wrestling, saying that she has no intention to return to the squared circle on a full time basis.
“You know, I always thought I would never wrestle again. I don’t think I’d go back to full-time wrestling because it was, it’s crazy, now they have it different, but it just took a lot. It took a toll on me. But I wouldn’t mind going back and doing like a fun little story and, you know, putting somebody over whatever, like something like that. But like, I think, you know, I gave it a good amount of time and now I’m like, prefer to just God willing, get married and have kids, you know.”
