Nia Jax Says She’s Hurt By Suggestions She “Injures Everybody”

Nia Jax

Former WWE Superstar Nia Jax has hit back at claims that she is dangerous in the ring and has injured a number of other Superstars.

Nia Jax, real name Lina Fanene, signed with WWE in 2014 before making her in-ring debut with NXT the following year. After a year-long stint with the black and gold brand, Jax was drafted to Monday Night Raw, remaining a regular presence on WWE’s main roster until being released by the company in November 2021.

As well as becoming Raw Women’s Champion and a two-time Tag Team Champion, Jax also garnered an unwanted reputation for injuring fellow Superstars and being unsafe in the ring. This perception was only enhanced in the lead up to Survivor Series in 2018.

During a brawl with the ‘invading Team SmackDown’ Jax broke Becky Lynch’s nose and gave her a concussion. This meant that Lynch was pulled from the event and missed out on her scheduled big-money clash with Ronda Rousey.

Speaking during a new interview with Renee Paquette on her Oral Sessions podcast, the star said that she was hurt by suggestions that she was unsafe in the ring, adding that she had only injured two people.

“That hurt… people [saying], ‘She injures everybody, she just hurts everybody.’ I can tell you this right now. In my career I know I’ve injured two people. Obviously Becky [Lynch] was one of them, and there’s another one that I don’t wanna call her out but I know I did, and I profusely apologized.”

Continuing on, Fanene said that due to WWE’s hectic live schedule, not every move was always going to look picture perfect, reiterating that she never intended to hurt people.

“Hey, guess what? We get in there and we’re going 300 days a year. Not all of my moves are gonna look super clean and smooth and just come out like cherries, but I’m not injuring people. I’m not purposely going out to hurt people. That’s what hurt me the most.”

During the conversation, the former champion also discussed her controversial match with Charlotte Flair which descended into a real-life fight. Fanene admitted that things went wrong in the match and the situation got out of hand, although the pair remain good friends.
