Nia Jax And Shayna Baszler Return To WWE NXT

Nia Jax makes return

On the February 17th edition of NXT on USA, WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler returned to the Black-and-Gold Brand to confront the 2021 Women’s Dusty Cup winners- Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez.

WWE Hall of Famer Beth Pheonix hosted the 2021 Dusty Classic ‘Award Ceremony’ during which both MSK and Raquel & Dakota confirmed when they would challenge for their respective Championships. MSK opened the segment confirming that they would clash against Lorcan and Burch on the March 3rd edition of WWE NXT before retiring to the turnbuckle to watch the rest of the segment unfold with a bucket of popcorn in hand.

Gonzalez and Kai were up next and whilst met by a barrage of ‘you deserve chants’ the duo shrugged off the crowd support and began to run down the Women’s Division roster, reminding everyone of their dominance during the Dusty Classic. However, before Kai and Gonzalez could properly get going, the all too familiar music of former NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler played and accompanied by her partner, Nia Jax, Baszler made her way to the ring.

Baszler and Kai entered an intense war of words with ‘The Queen of Spades’ reminding Kai that the last time they were both in NXT, she broke Kai’s arm and left her scared and hiding. Kai was quick to responds, reminding everyone that the last time Baszler was here she left with her tail between her legs after being defeated handily by Rhea Ripley, the same Rhea Ripley that Raquel Gonzalez left incapacitated following a Last Woman Standing Match.

The crescendo of the segment saw Raquel and Nia exchange heated words with Jax recalling the late Dusty Rhodes calling her “The Biggest, Baddest, B*tch around” to which Raquel quickly responded:

“Dusty Rhodes, God Bless His Soul… He never met ME”

As the segment concluded, the reigning NXT Women’s Champions stated that in two-weeks on March 3rd they will embarrass Kai and Gonzalez on their home turf leaving them on the wrong side of history. However, the segment could not close without at least on ‘My Hole’ reference, with Raquel stating on that night she will shove her boot so far up Nia’s hole she won’t be able to get it out.

This was Nia Jax’s first NXT appearance since losing to Asuka in a Women’s Championship rematch in late 2016 while Baszler last appeared in January, 2020 defeating Shotzi Blackheart in singles action.
