As speculation surrounding an AEW event in the United Kingdom continues to gather pace, a new report has provided a new update on the situation.
The United Kingdom’s interest in All Elite Wrestling has arguably never been higher. ITV 4 moved the broadcast of AEW Dynamite Grand Slam forward two hours, and the recent debut of British star Saraya was even reported on by BBC News.
This tied in with the fact that professional wrestling is as popular in the UK right now as it has been for a number of years, means interest in a UK-based show is at an all-time high.
While there has been no confirmation on where the event might take place or what it might look like, a number of hints have begun to be dropped. In a recent interview, Vikki Guerrero suggested that there have been talks about bringing the promotion to London.
Reporting in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that AEW won’t be heading to the UK until next summer at the earliest, while providing a potential venue.
“Right now it still looks like next summer at the earliest for a U.K. debut at Craven Cottage, the home of Fulham”
Fulham FC is owned by Tony Khan, who of course also owns All Elite Wrestling.
Although AEW are yet to run an event in the United Kingdom, they do have a foot-hold across the Atlantic with British stars PAC, Jamie Hayter and now Saraya, featuring regularly on television. PAC also recently became the only wrestler in company history to hold two championships at the same time when he added the Trios Championship to his All-Atlantic Title.
