A noted independent wrestler has become WWE’s newest Producer. The role of a Producer in pro wrestling includes assisting wrestlers in putting matches together as well as helping with interviews and backstage segments.
According to Fightful Select, Jason Cade has now taken on the job. He was in attendance at the February 6th edition of Raw and was the Producer for the match between NXT’s Indi Hartwell and Dana Brooke. There had been talk of him working on the Women’s Royal Rumble match, but that didn’t happen in the end.
Cade was recommended for the job by TJ Wilson, who once wrestled under the name Tyson Kidd but is now a key figure among the company’s Producers. Cade has prior links to Wilson as the star was trained by him and his real-life wife Natalya.
Jason Cade has a decade-long career
At the age of 31, Cade has been a pro wrestler on the independent circuit for nearly a decade now. He has appeared in multiple promotions around the US including Major League Wrestling, EVOLVE Wrestling, and CZW.
He was also a multi-time Tag Team Champion in American Combat Wrestling alongside AEW star Aaron Solow as well as holding singles titles in the United States Wrestling Alliance and the Premiere Wrestling Xperience. Cade was also one-half of the Pro Wrestling Revolver Tag Team Champions alongside IMPACT Wrestling star Rich Swann.
Cade has also done some work for major promotions. He made two appearances on AEW Dark in 2020 in losing efforts to Orange Cassidy and Marko Stunt. That year, he also wrestled on Raw, suffering a defeat to Malakai Black in under a minute.
In 2021, he appeared on NXT, although it was under the name Paxton Averill. There he teamed with Chuckie Viola and was defeated by The Creed Brothers, Brutus and Julius.
