We have two brand-new WWE NXT title contenders.
At the NXT New Year’s Evil show on 7th January, Giulia defeated Roxanne Perez to become the Women’s champion. While, later in the show, Oba Femi kept Trick Williams and Eddy Thorpe to crown himself the new champion.
However, the new champions already have a major threat in front of them. At the recently concluded NXT live show in Jacksonville, Florida on Saturday, Eddy Thorpe won his respective battle royal matches to earn a title shot.
Eddy Thorpe won a battle royal to earn a shot at Femi’s title. He was also involved at the New Year’s Evil triple threat and another title shot in December, which ended in a double pin. Former MMA fighter and Bellator star, Lola Vice also won a battle royal and earned a future shot at Giulia’s gold in Dade City, Florida on Friday.
Both of these singles matchups will be first-time encounters, as fans wonder if their recognition will be acknowledged on television, or if they just remain live show accomplishments.
WWE NXT Champion Oba Femi Issues Warning To The Rock
On the 7th January edition of New Year’s Evil, The Rock appeared during the show’s main event and cut a promo. He went all out on the segment and even addressed his seemingly sorted current relationship with Cody Rhodes.
Soon after, Champion Oba Femi opened up on his thoughts about The Rock’s NXT appearance on Busted Open Radio.
“Yes, of course it is, this is all mine. At the moment the time was being stolen from me, I wasn’t even aware it was being stolen from me. Maybe if I knew, I would have gone up to him and been like, ‘Hey, Uncle Dwayne, what are you doing?’
I’ll let it slide this time. But the next time Uncle Dwayne comes in and steals time from me, there’s going to be problems.”
