A new WWE signing has opened up about her All Elite Wrestling exit.
Earlier this month, after heavy speculations, former AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May (Blake Monroe), made her debut in the Stamford-based promotion’s developmental brand. Confronting the NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne, Monroe made her intentions known.
Monroe officially signed her NXT contract last week and recently opened up about her exit from All Elite Wrestling earlier this year. Speaking on her YouTube channel, the British wrestler uploaded a video titled “I’M A WWE SUPERSTAR“, where she revealed her thoughts on her exit from the Jacksonville-based promotion:
I felt a little dejected at the end of last year, and I didn’t know [WWE] was an option for me.”

The final phase of her AEW run saw May lose the Women’s World Title to Toni Storm and get involved in a violent feud against her. Claiming that she wasn’t in the right mental space then, Monroe eventually made the decision to bid adieu to the promotion. Her last match at Tony Khan’s promotion was against Storm at the Revolution PPV.

Further in the video, Monroe opened up about her efforts to recover from that low headspace:
I started training again. I actually started training at Flatbacks, which is an amazing school, I was training in Atlanta and I just fell in love with wrestling again. I fell in love with wrestling again, and I felt like I was back in the game, and I want to do so much more.”
“And I spoke to my manager and he said, ‘I believe in you.’ And I spoke to people around me and they were like, ‘I believe in you.’ And I spoke to my parents, who were really the big ones, and even my dad said, ‘Your life isn’t a dress rehearsal, you get one go. This is your dream since you were a little kid.’”
She further said:
And so everything happened really quickly. I’m doing it. I’m officially a WWE Superstar.”
