At night two of Fyter Fest on July 21st Britt Baker sustained a broken wrist during her clash with former AEW Women’s Champion Nyla Rose.
Britt Baker later took to social media to confirm the extent of her injury, making sure that the world knew that she wouldn’t be taking any time off. After Baker’s most recent successful title defence against Red Velvet, and a new report has provided some more background on the injury.
The report from Fightful Select confirms that the injury occurred during a Death Valley Driver spot towards the end of the match. Impressively, despite braking her wrist, Baker didn’t cut the match short and worked a further four minutes. It’s noted that the injury has caused a “hiccup” in the AEW Women’s division, but Baker continues to work through the issue.
On the premiere episode of AEW Rampage, the AEW Women’s World Champion returned home to ‘Brittsburgh’ to take on Red Velvet.
The champion was a clear favourite from the outset and entered the arena to a thunderous ovation from the home crowd. Despite a spirited effort from Red Velvet, Baker eventually proved to much for the challenger.
After the match, the champion decided to dish out some more punishment but was blindsided by Kris Statlander who had been watching from ringside. Just as Statlander got the upper hand she was also attacked by a mystery assailant.
While revelling the chaos, the mystery women removed her cap to reveal that she was none other than Jamie Hayter.
AEW later confirmed that Hayter was All Elite.
Hayter was last seen in AEW in 2019 on the 6th edition of Dynamite where she teamed with Emi Sakura to take on Riho and Shanna. Interestingly, she lost her debut AEW match to new partner Britt Baker. Since then Hayter has had successful runs in STARDOM where she won the Goddesses Of Stardom Championship with Bea Priestley. Hayter also won the RevPro Undisputed Women’s Championship.
The comeback to AEW came as a shock to many as it was rumoured that she was NXT UK bound.
