New Update On AJ Styles’ WWE Contract; Length And More Details Out

AJ Styles Promises To Retire By This Date

Is AJ Styles here to stay with WWE?

A part of the Stamford-based promotion since the Royal Rumble 2016, Styles has since established himself as one of the top athletes on the roster. While arguably one of the most popular pro-wrestlers even before his WWE arrival, Styles’ feuds against some of the top stars and championship wins made him a household name amongst the mainstream pro-wrestling fans.

Now nearing a decade in the promotion, a new update has emerged on the former World Champion’s contract status. Fightful Select recently noted that sources close to Styles reported him signing a one-year extension with the promotion. Although it is unknown when the extension was signed, or when it will expire.

The Phenomenal One had previously expressed his desire to hang up his boots in WWE, although he did have conversations with AEW in the past, particularly with EVPs, The Young Bucks. However, the conversation never reached the point of money. In 2019, he had signed a new contract with WWE, which he deemed to be his last.

For the majority of 2024, Styles remained sidelined with injuries, as Fightful noted that the amount of time he was out injured, his contract should have already expired by now. While World Wrestling Entertainment has not yet announced any official extension, Styles is regularly featured on television and is reportedly scheduled to face Dominik Mysterio at SummerSlam 2025.

AJ Styles Explains Why He Rejected TNA Hall Of Fame Induction

Earlier this year, while at a Fanatics Live Signing, AJ Styles opened up on his decision not to enter the TNA Hall of Fame induction, which he received last year in October 2024.

There was a time they wanted me to come in and be in the TNA Hall of Fame. I just thought it was a little disrespectful at the time, to WWE, to go into the TNA Hall of Fame. I want to go into the Hall of Fame when I’m done wrestling. I think that’s more appropriate. There are a lot of places I’ve wrestled and I’m very thankful that I can be in any Hall of Fame. I’m gonna wait until I’m done.”
