New Roman Reigns Theme Was Reportedly In The Works For Six Months

Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman

On the May 30th edition of Friday Night SmackDown Roman Reigns defeated Daniel Bryan to retain his WWE Universal Championship.

However, the night was also something of a landmark occasion for a couple of other reasons. Not only did defeat mean that Bryan is now banished from SmackDown, but Roman Reigns also received new theme music.

Ever since Reigns adopted his new look and assumed his place at the head of the table, it has been rumoured that he would be getting a theme to complete the evolution.

It has now been reported by Fightful Select, that the new theme has been in the works for at least six months. Although the report notes that it is unclear why the theme took so long to debut.

“The work had already started on the theme six months ago at least. WWE has worked to get away from Jim Johnston and CFO$ era themes over the last year. Often times when working on a theme, it will get sent for approval and still require work, although we’re not sure if that happened here.”

After the match, the two-time Universal Champion teased taking out the Washington-native for good with a Conchairto before Cesaro attempted to make the save. ‘The Swiss Superman’ got a few good strikes in on Reigns before Jey Uso appeared and tied up him up in the ropes, allowing Reigns to hit the Conchairto on Daniel Bryan right in front of a helpless Cesaro as SmackDown went off the air.
