Former WWE Superstar Andrade will reportedly debut a new ring name when he finally returns to the squared circle.
While many had expected Andrade to return to his La Sombra moniker that he used prior to his time with WWE, it has now been suggested that this will not be the case.
According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer, Andrade will be known as ‘Andrade El Idolo’ going forwards.
“Andrade’s ring name going forward will be Andrade El Idolo as opposed to La Sombra, since he’s come out with Andrade El Idolo merchandise”
Andrade last appeared in a wrestling ring back in October 2020, where he was taken out by ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt.
Andrade was officially granted his release from WWE on March 21st.
Following his departure, the man formerly known as La Sombra revealed that he is not subject to a non-compete clause meaning he can return to action as quickly as he chooses.
During an interview after being granted his release, the former United States Champion explained how he turned down a potential return to NXT.
“I spoke with Triple H before I asked for my release. It was over the phone and not in person because I had COVID. Two days before my release, I still talked with Triple H. I told him the truth and that I wanted an opportunity. He told me that they honestly were not aware that he was ready. I don’t know who in the office wouldn’t tell Vince and Triple H that I was ready since November. They didn’t know that I was medically cleared. [Triple H] told me that he didn’t know. He then told me, ‘How about a run on NXT?’ I told him that I wanted an opportunity on SmackDown or RAW.”
At time of writing it remains unclear when or where Andrade will return to the ring.
