A new report has claimed that WWE legend Lita previously talks with AEW about a deal which would have seen her feud with a major star.
Although Lita briefly appeared in CMLL and ECW early in her career, it was her tenure with WWE which took her into superstardom. During her time with the company she won the Women’s Championship on four occasions and engaged in a now legendary feud with Trish Stratus.
On the January 14th edition of SmackDown, Lita made her return to the blue brand for the first time in nearly two decades. The appearance came after it was announced that the Hall of Famer would be returning to the ring in the upcoming Royal Rumble match.
On the show, Lita said that she thinks she’s got one last run in her, but was quickly interrupted by Charlotte Flair. Although it was the veteran who got the last laugh, laying out the SmackDown Women’s Champion with a Twist of Fate.
However, it has now been suggested that things could have been very different.
A new report from Fightful Select has claimed that AEW reached out to the star back in 2021, but the two sides failed to agree terms on a deal. There was also a pitch that would have seen Lita clash with current AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker. The report adds that there were talks which included creative plans to happen around All Out 2021.
Interestingly it was said that the two sides remain on good terms, and didn’t rule out working together in the future.
In closing, the report states that despite Lita’s previous injury issues, she’s not been on WWE’s “no contact” list and has been cleared to compete for more than four years.

Lita’s most recent match took place in 2018 when she returned to the ring for a trio matches, her first in a decade. She began the year by appearing in the Royal Rumble before wrestling at WWE Evolution and in a tag team match on Monday Night Raw.
