New NXT Tag Team Champions Crowned On NXT 2.0

Pretty Deadly WWE NXT Tag Team Championships NXT 2.0

Pretty Deadly have emerged victorious as the new NXT Tag Team Champions after surviving a gauntlet match that featured four other teams!

MSK was flying high when they won the NXT Tag Team Championships by defeating Imperium at Stand & Deliver, but days later, reports emerged that Nash Carter had been released from the company after allegations from his estranged wife Kimber Lee and a photo of him doing a Nazi salute surfaced online.

WWE announced shortly thereafter that the NXT Tag Team Titles had been vacated, and that new champions would be crowned on the April 12th episode of NXT 2.0. The five teams announced for the gauntlet match were as follows:

  • Grayson Waller & Sanga
  • Legado del Fantasma
  • The Creed Brothers
  • Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen
  • Pretty Deadly

The first teams to enter the gauntlet were Diamond Mine members the Creed Brothers and Legado del Fantasma. The runners-up of the Dusty Classic were able to defeat Legado del Fantasma and the Creed Brothers moved on.

Immediately after their first victory, Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen made their way to the ring to try to upset the Diamond Mine, but even after Brutus being put through the announce table, the Creed Brothers were able to secure the victory once again.

Out next were Grayson Waller and his bodyguard Sanga, who proved a monumental challenge for the Diamond Mine members after they’d already endured plenty of punishment. Despite Sanga’s considerable size advantage and Grayson Waller’s undeniable skill, the Creeds managed to score a win once again.

The final team in the gauntlet were former NXT UK members Pretty Deadly, who made their surprise debut in NXT 2.0 last week as they were revealed to be the people who’d attacked the Diamond Mine members in the parking lot weeks ago. Commentary noted that the Creed Brothers had very little left in the tank after competing in four matches prior to their confrontation with Pretty Deadly, but the Creeds refused to give up easily.

Despite their resolve and the crowd chanting their names loudly, exhaustion took its toll and the Creed Brothers fell to Pretty Deadly in the end as the former NXT UK Tag Team Champions added another set of gold to their accolades.

After finding success on the British wrestling independent scene, Pretty Deadly began appearing in NXT UK in 2019. After climbing through the tag team ranks, the pair captured the NXT Tag Team Championships in February 2021 after defeating Gallus.

The team stood atop NXT UK for a number of months before finally losing the titles to Moustache Mountain on December 9th. The defeat ended their reign at 287 days. The now former champions have since only wrestled twice more in NXT UK before their shock NXT 2.0 debut.

Elsewhere on NXT 2.0, Natalya made a surprise appearance to confront Cora Jade. Full results from the show can be found here.
